Question:
I have a three year old German Shepard. He is as we believe and the vet that he is in great health. However, in the past week or so we have noticed him rubbing and scratching his ears and moaning while doing so. My husband is presently trying to clean out the outer/inner parts of his ears. There is a fair amount of darkish brown substance on the Q-Tip after doing so.
My Question is how the heck can I get Dutch (our Shep) out of all this ear trouble and what do you think it may be?
Thank you and sincerely,
Linda wurst, Eric, and of course Dutch

Answer:
Thanks for your email.

It sounds like an ear infection. He should be checked to see if it
is a yeast or bacterial infection. He may need antibiotics, ear cleaning
or yeast medication. It is best to get ahead of it before it gets really
bad. Some times they take months to treat and get cleared up. Once
things have cleared up you want to do maintenance on the ears to
prevent from happening again
